Cooperation – Empowerment – Transparency – Joy – Impact
The CoFED network aims to empower students to create ethically-sourced, cooperatively-run food enterprises on college campuses. Historically, universities have been a center of cultural shift. Students seek out powerful learning experiences and vibrant communities that will cement the habits and values of our adult lives. We want real food and real coops to learn skills that prepare us for careers and lives that make our ideals reality.
CoFED, the Cooperative Food Empowerment Directive, is a network of student leaders growing cooperative and sustainable food businesses throughout North America. We are a training program for social entrepreneurship and a youth-led organizing effort. CoFED supports over 40 student teams in regions across North America. Our Regional Organizers directly support students through coaching with resources, hosting training events, and facilitating regional networks.
Regional Organizers’ Mission
We serve our regions as facilitators of a bottom-up network of student-run food cooperatives. We utilize our collective resources as a supportive conduit for the education and development of student cooperatives. CoFED’s core values–cooperation, empowerment, transparency, joy, and impact–dictate how we carry out our work and how we treat each other.
